Traditional Wives and Women who Work: a question about Expectations?
This is a question for women who value traditional roles in a marriage, yet who are working because they have to.
1. What do you expect from your bf/husband?
2. What do you expect of yourself as a gf/wife?
I immigrated to the USA to get married and until I get my work authorization I am unable to work legally. We haven’t been married long and don’t have children. I don’t need to work, but I want to…I’ve been off work for five months and it’s driving me crazy!!!
I expect my husband to work and pay the bills. I expect myself to do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, and making meals while he is away. I used to get a bit irritated when he would leave stuff lying around, but I realize he is putting in 8-10 hour days and really doesn’t expect a whole lot from me, so it doesn’t kill me to pick up after him.
Him not contributing to household chores has never been an issue. He likes to help out with supper or will even cook for me once in a while. He takes care of all the stuff I don’t like – oil changes, maintenance, yard work, any repairs. Cleaning and cooking I can handle. I did it on my own for 12 years so I’m sure I can do it now.
