Stroller Morning
Stroller Morning

When I started introducing solids to my baby, he suffered from a very bad case of constipation. I was not very worried initially, as the medical literature suggested that up to a week without moving bowels was not a problem. In addition, when babies are in the transition of weaning, they tend to have difficulty with this.
The Problem
My son was constipated for a few days. However, my family members were extremely worried. The problem was increasingly embarrassing as he would break wind in public, and it usually caused a stink.
Home Remedies
In the beginning, we tried giving fruits. We tried pear, and prune. However, he hated the taste of prune, and it did not seem to work. Next, we tried diluted fruit juice, but he refused to take more than a sip.
Next, we tried sweet potatoes. To make the taste more palatable, I added expressed breast milk to it. Adding water is also another option, as this is quite a sweet dish.
With further research online, I thought that the rice cereal could be an issue. It is one of the first food that people give babies, but some babies do have problems with it. Hence, I decided to eliminate that from his diet for the time being.
We put some ointment to relieve wind, but it did not help at all.
Medical Help
Finally, we went to the doctor. The doctor said that it was not a problem as it was merely a few days. Perhaps my son was unaccustomed to passing harder stools as he had been on a mainly breast milk diet that was easily digestible.
He gave some bowel regulator medicine, but it did not really work. The suppositories we had to insert worked extremely well, and most of the stools were passed out, causing a great mess. Unfortunately, after that, he went without passing motion again for a few days.
The problem existed for the next few weeks, where he would go without passing motion for a few days, and was seemingly in pain as he would keep straining.
The next time we brought him to the pediatrician, he decided the problem was due to hard stools. The nurse also pumped in enema, and this cleared his bowels. This time round, he gave fiber solution to be added to his cereal daily. In addition, an additional medicine on stool softener was given.
By this time, the problem was resolved. Another pediatrician mentioned that it was not a good idea to be too reliant on fiber solution, so we decided to stop giving that. To ensure that he did not get constipation again, we gave him lots of pureed fruits, sweet potatoes and added more water to his meals.
Potty Training
We also carried him to the potty every morning to establish a routine. While some people may feel that it is too early for potty training, we found that using the potty helped to reduce the mess, and also it created a habit for him to pass motion every day. Since his back was not strong enough to sit up, I simply held him and placed the potty below him. The problem was finally resolved, and my family was relieved (pun intended).

I accidently left my stroller in the rain, do i have to get rid of it?
I never leave it outside, but i took it out of my SUV last night and forgot to put it back. When i checked the mail this morning there it was outside on my porch…..all wet (there was a storm last night) It comes apart but you have to remove a bunch of screws. I hate to take it apart and never get it back on. Do i have to wash and dry it. or would putting a fan on it do the same thing?
You may run the risk of it smelling like mildew.I would scrub it down with dish soap and water and then put the fan on it to dry.Make sure it is totally dry before folding it back up.
