Is anyone familiar with a game that resembles tic-tac-toe and you win with 5 squares in a row?
This game is quite popular in my school. We play it on squared paper with each player taking turns. The goal is similar to tic-tac-toe; you need to get 5 squares in a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The playing grid is essentially indefinite.
I would be interested to know if there exists some mathematical theory about the game (whether there is a forced win for either player, if some tablebases exist, etc). Even just the name would be useful.

There is a game for kids called CONNECT FIVE.
I guess most people do not know these old-time games like SORRY, CANDYLAND, and stuff, too many vid games are out now (no brain power or brain building games nowadays…how much brains does it take to shoot someone in Call of Duty?)
CONNECT FIVE has a plastic stand-up board in which 2 players compete by dropping checker pieces in columns to make a row of five matching colors in a straight line to win the game.
