my new tattoo is leaving ink on my shirt. is this normal?

I have had my tattoo for less than 24 hours and it is my first one. I have been washing it and rubbing ointment on it, but have found my shirt occasionally sticking to the ointment. After I take the shirt off, I notice some black ink on the inside of my shirt. Is this normal?

it is normal.. but it also sounds like you are keeping it too wet.. which is also causing the ink to bleed more than dry..my only one i had a real issue with doing this was a session that lasted 3.5 hours.. and my body wasnt holding much ink after that anyway.. so the ink was *bleeding* more than normal.. when it comes to proper aftercare there are so many answers out there to this question.. and different artists will recommend different things… so many of them contradict everybody else.. so its hard to know what the *right* answer is.. but there is no *right* answer.. and mainly because everybody heals differently…what they have found out is.. one.. you must keep it clean.. two.. excessively keeping it wet can let the ink bleed more than it should.. three… letting it heal two fast can also cause ink loss… i have tried different ways and combinations when it comes to mine healing.. and so far.. they have all worked well… personally the best option i have found for ME.. is H2Ocean.. they have products that cover all three basics.. cleaning with the foam soap.. moisturizing foam.. and the cream.. not till this last session have i tried it.. and honestly it has made a difference for me.. I personally asked my artist before using them to see how he felt.. and since its a *newer* method he didnt have much of an answer for me.. other than to .. try it and let him know how it worked… and already only 3 days into it.. its been amazing… i have tried letting them heal with little moisturizer… i have tried going to straight lotion afterwards.. and i have tried the a and d method… even with the a and d.. tattoo goo.. and other *cream* methods.. you only want to use them for the first 2-3 days.. main reason is so it heals slowly.. and not so fast to pull the ink out.. but if you were to keep it constantly wet and not let it dry some .. it takes longer to scab and peel naturally too.. but if you dont keep it moisturized to a degree you dry heal and it can heal too fast and ink come out with the scabs worse… there are no right or wrong answers.. but please do stay clear of things that will heal it quickly because then theres not enough time for the ink to sit and it heals the ink out..*such as neosporin* please stay away from that… also be careful about what you use.. because they can react to it as well.. thats why they dont want you to use lotion for dry or cracked skin.. or ones with dyes and perfumes and such.. because it is an open wound.. would you put these things inside of a cut and expect it to heal properly??… personally.. i would go with the H2Ocean option first.. then the lotion every few hours second.. and if your going to use a and d.. remember most artists if they recommend it.. only recommend it the first 2-3 days of healing.. and with a smaller tat.. 1-2.. then lotion.. but not soaking it either… best of luck.. and i know this was long but was trying to help via several personal experiences, experiences of several friends, and recommendations from several artists i know and have had work on me.. as well as the hours and hours of googling this subject to ask my artists as well… again everybody heals differently.. so what works for one wont always work for the next.. best of luck
