Why does religion try to take all the fun out of life?
I like to drink, have pre-marital (safe) sex, and lie on occasion, and church is boring. Religion is all about the “after-life”, but what about this life?
In the words of Billy Joel:

As Fae-Friend Whisperwind says, not all religions do. That’s only conventional religion, which tries to make us something we aren’t. LHP religions like Wicca don’t do that.
“Only the good die young” – that probably explains why most bishops live to a ripe old age!
Conventional religion is, let’s face it, originally a way of enforcing some kind of way of society living together by threatening people with eternal punishment if they don’t follow the rules. Now it’s just a power trip for god and the priests.
