Will the Great Recession give us good music the way punk evolved in England?

Punk music in England was a product of the high unemployment and despair amongst their youth. So, will this economic malaise give us good music to rock out to?

Actually when the unemployment rate was high I believe that gave birth to post-punk. Which would be things more like Human League and New Order. I don’t remember anything about a recession being around when the Sex Pistols were in their prime I just know that Malcolm McLaren (sp?) took the sound from Blank Generation by Television and marketed it to the English since he was an entrepreneur he thought it would work better in England. And I think that most of the Clash were present when The Ramones played their first show in London so maybe some of it came from American music? Just a theory
