Gold chains and jewelry are classic gifts that are given for many occasions. Gold jewelry is often given for special occasions such as milestone birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other celebrations. Gold chains are a very classic gift, but if you have ever searched for the right gold chain you may have been overwhelmed.

There are many different styles of chains available. And they come in different materials and qualities, varying sizes and serve different purposes. Here is a quick guide to some of the most classic and popular gold chains to help you find the perfect gift of gold.

Mariner chains are a classic gold chain that you probably see quite frequently. These chains are made of gold ovals linked together. They give a rather nautical look, hence the name mariner chain. Mariner chains are versatile and come in rounded or flattened looks.

Rounded mariner chains tend to have a less formal look and are often worn as everyday gold jewelry. Mariner chains that are a bit thinner and flattened have a tendency to look more formal because they lie against the skin and reflect more light giving them a little more sparkle.

Curb chains, also known as Cuban chains, are a very traditional chain. Curb chains are known for their strength, making them a popular chain for both men and women looking for more durable, everyday gold chain. This type of chain has a clean and simple style; another reason for its popularity and ability to be worn casually. Curb chains can be given a much fancier look by using very high quality gold chain.

If you are looking for a smaller, more delicate chain, a box chain might be a good option for you. Box chains are typically smaller because of the way they are made. Like the name suggests, box chains look like many boxes linked together. These box links can be square or rectangle.

Although they are smaller and lighter in weight than many chains, box chains often make brighter gold jewelry than other gold chains. This is because the flat surfaces of the boxes reflect more light than rounded chains. Box chains make excellent necklaces for hanging pendants and charms.

If you wish to give a more sturdy gold chain as a gift, a rope chain is another good choice. Rope chains look just like they sound, like twisted gold rope. These types of chains come in many sizes. The thicker the chain, the stronger it becomes. If you have a very large or heavy pendant or stone to hand from a chain, a rope chain may be your best choice because of its strength.

A Figaro chain is a versatile and fashionable choice for gold chains. These chains are made from elongated links combined with shorter links, giving it a somewhat lacey and delicate look. Depending on the width of a Figaro chain, it can be worn by itself or with a small charm or stone.

Gold jewelry always makes a popular gift. It is well received and is something that almost never goes out of style. And if given for a special occasion, it reminds the wearer of their milestone or accomplishment every time it is worn.

Does my 2006 Mercury Mariner Luxury have TPMS?

I want to replace the stock 16″ rims with 18″ rims from a Mazda CX9. I don’t know if I have TPMS in my stock tires. If I do, can any chain place (Firestone, Tire Kingdom, etc) replace the valves and TPMS without a problem?
They screw out and screw back in? What screws out/in? The valve and it has a built in chip in it? Or something else? If it is something else, will it fit in a different brand of wheels?
Thanks for the great answer, Gearbox.

However, are you sure that I don’t have it just because I don’t have a dash light? I do have a computer in the dash that gives warnings when necessary

TPMS is mentioned in my handbook (but is generic for all ’06 Mariners). I have the Luxury model with the computer.
I just answered my own question:

“Tire Pressure Monitor: Std”

While it’s not recommended to change sizes and such, yours doesn’t have TPMS at all on it.. there would be some sort of light on the dash for this and yours doesn’t have it.

Meaning, you can put the rims on if they fit the bolt pattern

Also JT ….. There are many styles of TPMS Ford uses now

The vans use rolling speed to determine fault
The expeditions used the sensor mounted in the stem (which proved to be a headache with so many people breaking them)

Almost all 07 and newer with TPMS use a sensor mounted internally to the rim with a band… the band has to be replaced with a new band (the sensor can be moved), but Ford builds bands for up to 24 inch tires (but doesn’t recommend TPMS for over 20s due to false alarms)
