Summer’s not quite over throughout the country and now is the perfect time to plan a family vacation to one of the United States’ many waterparks. Although there are many waterparks to choose from, here are a few that are sure to help you create lasting memories. Your family will want to go back year after year.
Wild Island Family Adventure Park, Sparks, NV
The Wild Island Family Adventure Park has plenty of attractions families will love. There are waterslides, as well as bowling, go-karts and miniature golf. The park awards children who achieve good grades in school with free game tokens, race and golf passes.
These are just a few of the many waterparks around the United States. With waterparks throughout the country offering fun family attractions and activities, you’ll be able to spend a great day on the beach, no matter where you live.
Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark, South Padre, TX
The Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark on South Padre Island, TX is full of tropical family fun attractions. There’s a large five story sandcastle-shaped water fun house and many different waterslides and water coasters.
The Lily Pad is a wading pool for young children and families, complete with a frog shaped waterslide. When the kids need a break from the water, head to one of the large sandy, beach areas and build sandcastles and sand sculptures. Adults can visit Bob’s Float Inn Bar, a hot tub and swim-up bar. Visitors can relax and enjoy a cool drink in the refreshing hot tub.
Shipwreck Island Waterpark, Panama City Beach, FL
Choose from the many waterparks in Florida and head to Shipwreck Island Waterpark in Panama City. There are many different attractions for the whole family, from thrill rides to wave pools to low-risk attractions for kids. To go along with the shipwreck theme, the aptly named Pirate’s Plunge is a long, fast waterslide that visitors will zoom down.
Families with young children will enjoy the Tadpole Hole with small, kid-friendly waterslides shaped like a pelican and frog. The water level is low enough that even the smallest children will feel secure about landing in the splash pool.
Morey’s Piers, Wildwood, NJ
Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, is home to two large New Jersey waterparks, Ocean Oasis Waterpark and Beach Club and Raging Waters Water Theme Park. Along with the waterparks, the area boasts many other New Jersey attractions.
At Ocean Oasis, families can enjoy the Bonsai Beach interactive children’s area. There’s also the Puddle, a pool full of fun attractions and the Interactive Activity Pool, complete with a cargo net and lily pad walk. Families can rent a cabana to get out of the sun and enjoy a catered lunch of fruit, salads or favorites like crab cakes, chicken tenders and crab finger claws. The cabanas come with full concierge service and even offer high speed internet access in case mom or dad needs to make this a working vacation.
Raging Waters features many kid-friendly activities. Families can play together in Shipwreck Shoals, an interactive pirate ship and fort. The area also has a row boat, waterslides, water cannons and climbing ropes. In addition to Shipwreck Shoals, there’s also the Camp Kid-tastrophe Interactive Play Area, which is an award-winning play area complete with tire swings, waterguns and slides. Parents can relax by the play area in lounge chairs or splash around and join in the fun. Though Raging Waters has lots of attractions for kids, there’s plenty of fun for adults too. There are splash pools, tube slides and body slides and many other attractions for kids of all ages.
Wild Rivers Waterpark, Irvine, CA
California is home to many waterparks, but Wild Rivers in Irvine has something for adults and kids alike. Attractions include the Bombay Blasters, an underground cannon that shoots riders three feet above the water before the plunge into an eight foot pool. For the little ones, there’s the Kiddie Bombay, which is a tamer version of the Bombay Blaster. Wild Rivers has many other attractions like river rides, waterslides and water falls.
