Does a bowtie need to be worn on outside of collar?

Im wearing a tuxedo for my wedding and want to wear a bowtie. But my tux has a loop in the back so does that mean it goes on the outside of the collar? I thought ties get tucked under the collar. Thank you!

Ok, There is basically two (2) types of tuxedo shirts. One is a turn down collar and one is a wing tip. The turn down collar, yes a bow tie is under the collar; however, generally you were a long tie with a turndown collar and a bowtie with a wing tip.
