Athletic Shirt

Ladies, if a guy is very thin, is it better for his shirt to be too big or too small?

I’m 6′0 and 148 lbs, and have the broadness of shoulders to wear Large/ medium T-shirts, but when I do, I swim in the rest of the shirt. When I wear athletic medium or small, the rest of the shirt fits well, but the sleeves are short and the collar comes right up to my neck. Stuck with these two options, which looks better?

Small. Unless it looks like a midriff. Then, large.
