Casting on stitches to knit a beanie with sports weight yarn?

The size of the head is 22 inches so I subtracted 2 inches. I did the gauge for this yarn and I forget the exact but it turned out in the end to say cast on 135 stitches. Does that seem like to much? Sports yarn isnt very thick but I worry its too big or will take to much time. What do you think? Thanks!

It’s going to depend on the gauge, of course. But is it possible to produce a reasonable gauge with sport weight yarn that would call for casting on 135 sts for a hat? Yes. I actually just did one with exactly that number 2 days ago. If you’ve done a proper gauge block (didn’t cheat and just do a few rows) then trust your gauge.
